(IFRC) Red Cross societies across the Caribbean are dealing with the impact of Hurricane Irma, the second major hurricane to hit the region in recent weeks. Volunteers have been mobilized across the region to coordinate and participate in the response in communities, and relief supplies are on standby in Panama and the Dominican Republic.

As the scale of the damage becomes apparent, IFRC has released funds from the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) to support the response in Dominican Republic, Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, and St Kitts and Nevis. An appeal has been launched to support families affected by the disaster in Antigua and Barbuda and St Kitts and Nevis.
